Many Jehovah's Witness patients will require "bloodless medicine" strategies to manage anemia...due to their religious beliefs.
Jehovah's Witnesses usually don't accept transfusions of major blood components...red or white blood cells, platelets, or plasma. But they may be okay with blood fractions...albumin, clotting factors, IVIG, etc.
Ask your patient about their preferences, and document them in the EHR. Incorporate shared decision making to manage anemia.
